Press conference of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune with the French newspaper L’Opinion
The Algerian Presidency published, via its Facebook account, on February 2, 2025, the intervention of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during his press conference with the French newspaper L’Opinion, as follows:
1- Relations with France:
-From now on, the ball is at the Elysee so that we do not fall into an irreparable separation.
-The climate with France has become harmful and we are wasting time with Macron.
-The French Minister of the Interior wanted to deal a political blow to Algeria by trying to expel an Algerian influencer.
-France is pursuing Algerian activists on social media and protecting criminals and saboteurs by granting them citizenship and the right to asylum.
-The allegations of some French politicians that it is isolated make us laugh.
-Sansal is a problem for those who created it, and we have not heard all the secrets from him yet.
-Sansal is receiving treatment and talking to his family.
-The remnants of memory must be treated seriously and we will not accept solutions that sweep its effects under the rug.
-Cleaning up nuclear waste in Algeria is mandatory for France from a humanitarian, moral, political and military standpoint.
-France alone has the right to deal with the jihadist cases that have deviated to extremism on its soil.
2- The current climate of international relations in Algeria:
-Since our independence to this day, Algeria has had two main axes in foreign policy. Non-alignment and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries.
-We have excellent relations with the Mediterranean countries in the areas of investment and trade.
-Algeria is a stabilizing force in Africa.
3- Relations with the United States of America:
-Our relations have remained good with all American presidents, whether Democrats or Republicans.
-We will never forget that the United States presented the Algerian issue to the United Nations during the war of liberation.
-The United States of America is the only one that has a city named after our national hero Emir Abdelkader.
-Our largest projects during the era of Presidents Boumediene, Chadli and Bouteflika were completed with the Americans, in the hydrocarbon sector and other areas.
4- Syria:
-Algeria faced objections to returning Syria to the Arab League in 2022.
• Algeria has always rejected the massacres against the Syrians and firmly informed the former president of this, and supported political dialogue to resolve the crisis.
5- Russia, China and the Sahel:
• Algeria is an integrated whole and rejects double standards in international politics.
-Russia is condemned in the crisis with Ukraine while silence should be maintained regarding the annexation of the Golan and Western Sahara.
• Ukraine did not respond to Algeria's mediation between it and Russia.
• Chinese investments in Algeria are present, in many fields and are focused more on technology, digital, and modern industries.
• Military coups in the Sahel countries are expected due to the weakness of institutions in some countries.
• Algeria rejects the presence of mercenary forces on its borders and has informed Russia of this.
• Algeria does not support any terrorist groups in Mali and confirms its support for peace.
-Algeria does not aim to put Mali under its administration.
-We explained to the Malian side that what happened at the beginning of the dispute with it stemmed from foreign interference.
-Algeria was in the process of developing a comprehensive development plan in northern Mali amounting to millions of dollars.
-Algeria and Mali share the Tuareg community that extends between us and we have always been ready for reconciliation and reunification.
6- Relations with Tunisia:
-My brother, President Kais Saied, enjoys popularity in Tunisia despite the criticism.
•The Tunisian people are conscious people and Algeria supports Tunisia economically as much as possible.
-Tunisia suffered the ravages of colonial air strikes because it supported the Algerian cause, and today it is our right to stand by the brotherly Tunisian people.
7- Western Sahara and Morocco:
•Algeria confirms its support for Western Sahara because it is a colonial issue that must be eliminated no matter how long it takes, as Algeria gained its independence after an occupation that lasted 132 years.
•Morocco was the first to attack our territorial integrity only 9 months after our independence and 850 martyrs fell as a result of its attack on us.
-Algeria is still in the logic of reaction and not action with Morocco.
-Morocco has always had an expansionist mentality, as evidenced by the fact that it did not recognize Mauritania until 1972.
• Let everyone remember that Morocco was the first to impose visas on Algerians in 1994.
-We banned Moroccan aircraft from our airspace for carrying out joint maneuvers with the Zionist entity near our airspace, and this is contrary to good neighborliness.
-We must put an end to this situation one day. The Moroccan people are a brotherly people who deserve the best.
