Accreditation of Journalists
1. Temporary Accreditation of Professional Journalists:
In accordance with the provisions of Organic Law 12-05 of January 12, 2012, relating to information, particularly Article 81, and Executive Decree No. 14-152 of April 30, 2014, which specifies the procedures for accrediting professional journalists working for an organization subject to foreign law, any professional journalist wishing to practice journalism in Algeria for a media organization subject to foreign law, and holding a press card issued by the competent authorities in the country where the employer's registered office is located, or presenting a certificate issued by the organization for which they work, is subject to temporary accreditation procedures.
Applications for temporary accreditation are submitted to the competent Algerian diplomatic or consular missions in the country where the employer's registered office is located, or, if necessary, the journalist's place of residence.
The application for temporary accreditation must include the following documents:
طلب تأشيرة صحافة A completed press visa application form, provided by the competent Algerian diplomatic mission or consular representation; Application submitted by the employing body of the professional journalist;
A copy of the professional journalist's passport (for foreign nationals) or a copy of the national identity card (for Algerian nationals);
A copy of the "Press Card";
Two (2) passport-size photographs of the applicant.
If the journalistic activity to be carried out in Algeria requires technical equipment, the application for temporary accreditation must include a detailed list of this equipment to facilitate the temporary acceptance procedure.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues temporary accreditation for a maximum period of fifteen (15) days, renewable once.
Applications for temporary accreditation must be submitted at least fifteen (15) days before the start date of the assignment in Algeria.
2. Permanent Accreditation of Professional Journalists:
In accordance with the provisions of Executive Decree No. 14-152 mentioned above, applications for accreditation of professional journalists as permanent correspondents in Algeria for media organizations subject to foreign law shall be submitted to the territorially competent diplomatic or consular missions in the country where the employing organization's headquarters are located.
The permanent accreditation application file shall contain the following documents:
An application form, provided by the territorially competent Algerian diplomatic mission or consular representation;
An application issued by the employing organization of the professional journalist;
A copy of the professional journalist's passport (for foreign nationals) or a copy of the national identity card (for Algerian nationals);
A copy of the journalist's press card; Two (2) passport-size photographs of the applicant.
The Ministry of Communication issues a permanent accreditation for a period of twelve (12) months, renewable.
