Mr. Attaf Holds Talks with His Saudi Counterpart

On the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, met with His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the latest developments in the Middle East region and discuss a number of regional and international issues of common interest .

The two ministers exchanged views and assessments on the latest developments in the Sahel region, especially in light of the multidimensional challenges it faces. They emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination and consultation between the two countries in this regard, as well as supporting efforts to consolidate security, stability and development, while also addressing the root causes of the crises in the region .

The two ministers also discussed the latest political and security developments in sisterly Libya, as they reaffirmed the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis, based on Libyan ownership and leadership of the settlement process, in a way that preserves Libya’s unity and safeguards its sovereignty and territorial integrity, in addition to addressing the efforts made by neighboring countries in support of the Libyan political process, in a way that contributes to providing the optimal conditions to enable the Libyan people to overcome their crisis and achieve their aspirations for security, stability and development
