Speech by the Ambassador on the occasion of National Student Day, May 19, 2026

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Ladies and Gentlemen, Colleagues,

I address you today as we commemorate the glorious anniversary of Student Day, which falls on the nineteenth of May each year. This immortal date marks a shining chapter in the history of the national struggle, when Algerian students answered the call of their homeland in 1956, joining the ranks of the National Liberation Army. They affirmed that knowledge and struggle are two sides of the same coin: serving Algeria and defending its sovereignty and dignity.

Student Day is a symbol of national consciousness, the commitment of youth, and the strength of will that has characterized the sons and daughters of Algeria throughout the generations. Since the dawn of the national movement, students have proven that the university is a beacon of free thought and a source for cultivating the leaders who have contributed to building the modern Algerian state.

Today, as we recall these sacrifices, we stand in awe of the scientific excellence, research innovation, and global engagement achieved by Algerian students across the globe. This strengthens Algeria's position and enables it to keep pace with the rapid transformations in all fields. Algeria, steadily progressing towards its renaissance in all areas, relies on its conscious youth, and especially its students, to be the driving force of development and active partners in building the future. Knowledge is the foundation of strength, and investing in students is the most effective investment in the nation's future.

On this occasion, we extend our sincerest congratulations and pride to Algerian students both at home and abroad, wishing them continued success and prosperity. We reaffirm our unwavering support for all scientific and cultural initiatives that reflect Algeria's ambitious image: a nation strong in its youth, proud of its history, and looking forward to a bright future.

May God have mercy on our righteous martyrs, and may He guide our students towards what is best for the country and its advancement.
